Business Continuity Plan for the current Sydney Covid-19 outbreak

by Alan Doughty

In response to the growing rate of community transmission of Covid-19, and the capacity of the Delta strain to transmit in indoor environments, Chemika has implemented additional precautions to ensure staff are kept safe and to allow for continuous operation through a variety of scenarios.

As from Monday the 26th of July, laboratory staff will work as 2 independent working groups rostered to be on site at different times. By working longer days and a 2 days on/ 2 days off cycle our laboratory will be operational for 6 days per week allowing current testing capacity to be maintained. The laboratory working groups will have no interaction and will never be on site concurrently. Essential on-site administration and QA functions will also be completely isolated from the laboratory groups.

Chemika has excellent IT systems in place which allows staff to connect and collaborate from a number of locations. This will minimise any disruptions due to handovers between staff.

Enquiries about the status of samples are best sent to the email address lab@chemika.com.au or by contact by telephone if preferred.

The main customer contact will continue to be Richard Miller with Stephanie Le Strange covering for times Richard is rostered off or unavailable.

The experience of Chemika's customers is expected to change only minimally, with the internal changes being put in place to ensure this continues. If anyone would like to discuss any impact of these changes please feel free to discuss with members of staff or myself personally.
